Abstract

The present research work seeks to make an analysis of the framework of the prevailing costal marine currents system on the influence area of the System for Oceanic Disposal of the Sewerage of Fortaleza – SDOES. The methods of information gathering made use of an Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler – ADCP device, with the main objective of characterizing the local hydrodynamics during the ebb tide flow. According to the results, the mean flow speed was 0.16 m/s in all devised transects, with the third one standing out through the highest peak speeds at the deepest layers, at 0.23 m/s, whereas the maximum flow intensity registered at the surface was 0.35 m/s. For the lower limits of the variation rage of current speed, the estimated surface value of 0.05 m/s was also larger that the one found for the deep layers, namely 0.01 m/s. The results arrived at for flow direction of currents proved to be quite homogeneous in all devised transects, with a predominant direction at 270o - 330º.
