Abstract

Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) is a pathology with high transmission potential and currently with pandemic status. Thus, the aim of this article was to trace the epidemiological profile of COVID-19 cases in the state of Paraíba using the local epidemiological bulletin. To this end, documentary research was adopted, retrospective, epidemiological, descriptive research with quantitative approach, from secondary sources. The findings were based on the records of cases of the disease from 135 municipalities of Paraiba. The results indicated that COVID-19 is more frequent in men, in the young adult age group and with pre-existing diseases and, among those who have died, the profile is formed by men, but in a higher age group, especially over 80 years and with systemic arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus and heart diseases. The findings indicate that, from the established profile, it is possible to plan and follow-up the implementation of specific preventive measures for the group.
