Abstract

The nursing process constitutes an essential tool for guiding the individual hemodialysis treatment. In this study, the aim was to identify nursing diagnoses of the activity/rest domain of NANDA International evidenced by elderly patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment and set the defining characteristics and the risk factors or those related to the nursing diagnoses. This is a descriptive research with a quantitative approach, carried out with 40 elderly. With regard to the profile of patients under study, a prevalence of the male gender was evidenced, average age was 64,5 years, and education ranging 5-8 years of study. In the activity/rest domain eight nursing diagnoses, nineteen defining characteristics, and twenty-three related factors were identified. It is concluded that the identification of nursing diagnoses is essential for the systematic planning of care in the elderly under hemodialysis.
