Abstract

The study aimed to analyze stricto sensu postgraduate theoretical production in Brazil addressing alcoholism, aiming at health promotion. Bibliographical research performed on dissertations and thesis obtained from CAPES Portal through related descriptors. We used a form to record information that was analyzed according to the method of content analysis. The theme was observed in only 22 works and the main trends from these were: surveillance in health, reorientation of services and strengthening of community action. Researches aiming the promotion of health in this context are undoubtedly an important field of investigation to be explored. The existence of more studies involving other topics in health promotion is mandatory, as well as the building of public health policies, the creation of healthy environments and the deepening of efforts on all the identified trends related to alcoholism.
