Abstract

A retrospective/analytical study which has as its object na evaluation of the quality of nursing assistance given to patients with acute miocardic heart attack (AMH) in the coronary unit of a hospital school in Salvador from january to may in 1997. It has as its aims:  a) to offer subsidies for the evaluation of the quality of nursing attendance of patients with AMH; b) analyze the level of quality of nursing assistance given to patients with AMH according to notations registered in the official record and in accordance with an established standard. A theoretical reference which was adopted in this work is a concept elaborated by Donabedian where these is considered the structure, the process and results as elements to be examined in the evaluation of a concrete institution. These were selected and validated criteria to determine, according to nursing registries if it is being implemented in the situation in question, which is preconceived as nursing attendance of quality. Based on a standard routine there were analyzed 50 official records by virtue of which could be concluded that: Level I – minimum requirements were 94.3% of that contemplated; Level II standards of quality in attendance attained 60%; Level III – standards of excellence were not attained.
