Abstract

This article studies the expressions of the global division of intellectual labor in international journals of social theory. The following journals were analyzed: Theory, Culture, and Society; European Journal of Social Theory; Sociological Theory and Theory and Society. The article analyzes the national profile of authors who published between 2000 and 2016 and of the members of editorial committees. Thematic comparison between articles by authors from the South x Global-North is also made. The results show: low presence of intellectuals from Global-South in publications; domination of editorial committees by Northern intellectuals; lack of growth in the participation of the Global South in the years analyzed; and differences between objects researched by intellectuals from the South x Global-North. There is a qualitative and quantitatively peripheral insertion of intellectuals from the Global South in the debates of theory in the journals.
