The experiment was installed on 20/03/2007 at the Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Rio Verde (CEFET Rio Verde) in a dystrophic Red Latosol, after soybean crop, under no-till system. The experimental design was in the randomized complete block design with 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were: 60000 plants ha-1 with 0.90 m row spacing, applying 300 kg ha-1 of fertilizer; 60000 plants ha-1 with 0.45 m row spacing, applying 300 kg ha-1 of fertilizer; 80000 plants ha-1 with 0.45 m row spacing, applying 300 kg ha-1 of fertilizer;  80000 plants ha-1 with 0.45 m row spacing, applying 600 kg ha-1 of fertilizer; 99000 plants ha-1 with 0.45 m row spacing, applying 300 kg ha-1 of fertilizer; 99000 plants ha-1 with 0.45 m row spacing, applying 600 kg ha-1 of fertilizer. The fertilizer utilized was NPK 08:20:18. The corn cultivated with 0.45 m of row spacing with 60 thousands plants ha-1 conferred the greatest production for a wet and dry biomass yield in the harvest for ensilage. The treatment using 60000 plants ha-1 with 0.90 m row spacing, applying 300 kg ha-1 of fertilizer NPK 08:20:18 presented the best ratio of spikes biomass to total biomass. In the conditions of the present research, the yield of corn silage was only affected positively by the reducing spacing of 90 cm to 45 cm without population and fertilization increasing.
