Resumo

A new species of Tonnidae, Malea noronhensis is described, based on material obtained from the Brazilian Islands of Fernando de Noronha, Atol das Rocas and Trindade. It constitutes the first Recent record of the
genus Malea Valenciennes, 1832 for the Atlantic Ocean, where it is referred only from the Tertiary of Jamaica and Florida (Woodring, 1928) .
