About the Journal
Focus and scope
The electronic journal In Perspective is an annual journal of the Graduate Program in History of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). The Journal aims to stimulate intellectual production in the field of Social History, field of research in History, whose approaches appreciate analyzes around the experiences of historical subjects, from which the problematization of the notions of history, subject and society emerge as ways fundamental to understanding the past and its representations. It is intended to publish articles that, in dialogue with other areas of knowledge, discuss thematic categories linked to the relations between: memory and temporality, culture and power, migration and work, as well as other approaches.
Section Policies
Dossier
In special situations, research faculty (of renowned experience within historical studies) are invited to organize a dossier to compose a number of the journal In Perspective. The articles in the dossier always agree with the focus and scope of the journal and add to the other items published in the regular issue (articles, reviews, interviews). The organizer of the dossier can be a professor at the same university that edits the journal, or other institutions of national or international prestige, or researchers from different institutions can work together in the task of organizing and evaluating the articles. The organizer will be the first to review the manuscripts submitted to compose the dossier. The second reviewer will be appointed by the editor-in-chief of the journal, who invites members of the editorial team to have their research lines aligned with the dossier theme under review and the dossier review process will be blind, as in regular articles.
Streaming articles
The criteria adopted for the selection of works are: originality, originality, clarity, relevance to the area. Articles that present a critical analysis of issues pertaining to historiography are welcome.
Reviews
The Review Section will publish unpublished texts with critical comments on relevant works in the journal's concentration area. They should refer to books published in Brazil in the last four years prior to submission; or books published in other languages in the last 10 years.
Interviews
Interviews will be published with researchers dedicated to historiographic production and related fields.
Review Process in the Journal
The original articles, interviews, and reviews submitted to In Perspective are forwarded to the journal's Chief Editor and Responsible Editor, members of the journal's editorial board. This review is an initial assessment to see if the text fits in with the journal's guidelines and whether a full external review is warranted. After this preliminary evaluation, the works will be sent to two advisory members of the Advisory Board. If there is disagreement about the opinions, the manuscript (article / review / interview) will be sent to a third reviewer.
The deadline for completion of the process varies between 3 and 6 months. All reviewers receive the articles via the portal and the evaluation is made blindly. In addition to the manuscript for evaluation, reviewers receive a standard evaluation form and a statement of conflict of interest that must be signed and sent to the journal's editor-in-chief.
Note: There is a conflict of interest when an author (or the author's institution) , reviewer, reviewer, or editor has financial or personal relationships that improperly influence (bias) your actions.
The originals may be:
- Accepted in full, unrestricted;
- Accepted in full with certain amendments;
-Or Refused.
- The evaluation process is strictly blind (the word file should not contain personal / academic information), however the authors must fill in their academic data in the form that is already included in the 5 submission steps. manuscripts. These academic data will be used only if the article is accepted and published.
-Both rejected and accepted contributions will be communicated, in the form of anonymity of peer reviewers and via portal (system) to the authors. The Advisory Board of the Journal and the Editorial Team reserve the right not to comment on the grounds of refusal.
- The Journal reserves the right not to accept for evaluation more than one unpublished per author per year.
