Models of Holiness and hagiography

Abstract

The main theme of this article is holiness and the hagiography narrative published in the Vida dos Santos section of the Catholic newspaper O Romano.  This article is divided into two parts. The first seeks a conceptual and bibliographic discussion on the concept of holiness over time, seeking out to understand what characteristics make an individual a candidate for canonization. And in the second part, we wound up a study on the textual structure of the hagiographic text and, later, identify the elements that compose this narrative and reflect on the function of this textual model for the editors of this newspaper.
