The article in question analyzes the reverberation of the conflict between segments of the Catholic clergy and the military dictatorship in rural Pernambuco based on the actions of Father Pedro Aguiar. It is important to understand the characteristics by which we can identify the dictatorial environment experienced in Brazil between 1964 and 1985 beyond the large centers, observing it in its singularity in medium and small cities in the interior of the country. Thus, through the methodology of oral history and from the critical analysis of documents produced by the Information Centers of the Brazilian dictatorship, we understand the intricacies of the dictatorship in the context of local power relations.
