UMA UMA NOVA ESPÉCIE DE ANURO PARA A FORMAÇÃO CRATO, CRETÁCEO INFERIOR DA BACIA DO ARARIPE

A Bacia do Araripe é conhecida mundialmente por representar um jazigo fossilífero singular em termos de quantidade e preservação. Este trabalho descreve uma nova espécie de Xenoanura, contribuindo com novas informações paleogeográficas e filogenéticas dos anuros da bacia. O novo material fóssil foi encontrado nas pedreiras de calcários laminados que ficam entre os municípios de Santana do Cariri e Nova Olinda. Este fóssil de Anura está inserido em uma placa de calcário laminado da Formação Crato (Aptiano-Albiano). Trata-se de esqueleto incompleto (porção esquerda do crânio preservada; uróstilo e íleos fragmentados; membros posteriores incompletos) apresentando fórmula falangeal e morfologias ósseas únicas (maxilar retilíneo; quadradojugal robusto; tibial e fibular curtos, delgados e fusionados). Em comparação com espécies do Mesozóico, está filogeneticamente relacionado a Xenoanura. Com base nos dados obtidos, este novo achado fóssil, irá contribuir com novas informações sobre diversidade da batrachofauna da Bacia do Araripe.
