A new occurrence report of Stylatula darwinii Kölliker, 1870 (Octocorallia, Virgulariidae) for southeastern Brazil

      Abstract

      The species Stylatula darwinii Kölliker, 1870 (Anthozoa, Octocorallia), belongs to family Virgulariidae and phylum Cnidaria, and its geographical distribution had been previously recorded in the Antilles, Rio de Janeiro State (Brazil), and on southernmost South America. The aim of this paper is make a new report of the presence of S. darwinii off southeastern Brazil. Three specimens were collected manually during the spring tide, on Acaiáca beach, Piuma, Espirito Santo State, Brazil.
