Abstract

Holothuroids are echinoderms known by the cylindrical unarmed body and calcareous structures reduced to  microscopic ossicles embed in the dermis. Out of the 40 species distributed for the entire Brazilian littoral, only twelve  Holothuroidea species have been reported to Bahia State. The reduced number of species reveals restricted knowledge on  the group, and the need of further taxonomical efforts comprising geographical areas of high biodiversity. Therefore, the  present work aims to establish the first record of  Parathyone suspecta  and Holothuria arenicola to Bahia State.
