Abstract

The family Arcidae has considerable shell’s morphology variation, where the most important feature is the flattened  cardinal area. From samples of “Prof. Henry Ramos Matthews - series A “Malacological Collection of the Universidade  Federal do Ceará (CMPHRM-A)”, this present study provides a complementary anatomical description of two species  that occurs in Ceará State:  Arca imbricata and  Lunarca ovalis . The general features of the mantle, pallial cavity,  visceral mass, digestive, main muscle and genital systems were observed. This paper is complemented by a tabular key  between Arcidae species known to the Brazilian coast.
