Abstract

The objective of this research work was the morphologic study of Phalium (Semicassis) granulatum, a species that inhabits sand substratum in shallow waters and feeds on equinoderms. Especimens were collected at Redonda beach, Icapuí county, Ceará State, Brazil. Phalium (Semicassis) granulatum possesss the left ommatophore and tentacle bigger than the ommatophore and tentacle on the right side. In the palial cavity a long, very wide hypobranchial gland was observed with regular folds parallel to the gill filaments. The species possesses a taenioglossate radula and a chitinous jaw of a subtriangular format. In the mouth region there can be found the proboscid, salivary and esophageal glands.
