The history with fiction in Alexandre Dumas

the example of the Mémoires de Garibaldi (1860)

Abstract

The article wants to propose an introductory study on the conception of History in Alexandre Dumas and among the romantics, in this sense the problem is: are the Mémoires de Garibaldi, published in 1860 in the city of Paris by Alexandre Dumas, a possible source for the knowledge of Story? How to deal with the relation of its fictional and historical aspect? Our analysis will be constituted from the point of view of the author, Alexandre Dumas. The interest in the Mémoires de Garibaldi is due to its particular structure of publication.
