Focus and Scope

Entrelaces is the journal of the Graduate Program in Literature (PPGLetras) at the Federal University of Ceará (UFC). Aiming to foster and promote critical debate around literary studies and the disciplinary fields with which it interacts, the journal publishes, every six months, articles, essays, reviews, and translations by PhDs, graduate students, and undergraduate students. Undergraduates must submit their texts co-authored with their advisor. The journal accepts texts in German, Spanish, French, Italian, English, and Portuguese.

Two editions are published each year, including  Dossiers or Free Theme  issues  .


Section Policies

Dossier

The DOSSIER section receives academic articles based on specific themes proposed by guest editors. Calls for papers are published by the journal in its "News" tab.

 

Literary Studies

The LITERARY STUDIES section welcomes academic productions on a broad range of topics in the field of Literature. These texts are published in a dedicated section, either as supplements to the Dossier or as independent issues.


Reviews

This section is intended for the critical appreciation of academic and literary publications in the field of Letters/Literature. Reviews should be of recently published books: for Brazilian publishers, recent books are considered books published no more than two years ago; for foreign publishers, books published no more than three years ago. These texts may be published in the open call issue at the time of submission or in up to two subsequent issues, as decided by the Journal's Editorial Board.

 

Translation

This section publishes original and unpublished translations of literary works or critical-theoretical texts relevant to the field of Letters/Literature. For texts protected by copyright, a document authorizing the copyright holder is required for publication. These texts may be published in the open call issue during the submission period or in up to two subsequent issues, as determined by the Journal's Editorial Board.

 

Extension: intertwining and experiences in teaching and research

This section welcomes articles, essays, and experience reports on literature teaching and the relationship between literature, cities, and the social contexts in which it is embedded. With a special focus on teacher training and practice, and university outreach, the places where these experiences are lived and realized, with literary expressions as a link, as well as what they evoke and enable. These texts may be published in the open call issue during the submission period or in up to two subsequent issues, as decided by the journal's Editorial Board.

 

Critical Creation Laboratory

This section welcomes essays and hybrid genres that seek to blur the lines between literary and analytical texts, expanding, through written forms and expressions, the meanings of contemporary literary criticism and theory. These texts may be published in the open call issue during the submission period or in up to two subsequent issues, as determined by the journal's Editorial Board.

 

Cover Illustration

Entrelaces welcomes proposals for COVER ILLUSTRATION. Illustration proposals can be submitted for both Dossiers and Free Theme editions. The Entrelaces Editorial Board decides which cover to choose for Free Theme editions; for Dossiers, the organizers will be responsible, in partnership with the Editorial Board. There is no limit to the number of proposals, and high-definition files should be submitted in PNG or TIFF format. Proposals should be sent to lojaentrelacesufc@gmail.com .

Selected artists must expressly agree to the assignment of copyright and Entrelaces' open access policy. The Entrelaces team may request adjustments or changes to the selected artwork.


Peer Review Process

Every submission that meets the journal's standards will be initially reviewed by the editorial team, who will assess potential authorship issues such as plagiarism, republication, kinship, compliance with section policies and journal standards, among other issues. If approved, the submission will be assigned to an editor, who will conduct the review process. The submission is forwarded to at least two reviewers from institutions different from each other and from the submitter's. In the event of discrepant reviews, a new reviewer will be invited. All authors will receive the reviewers' opinions, whether approved or rejected.

 

Periodicity

Entrelaces is a biannual online magazine. Two issues are published each year, each consisting of Dossiers or Free Themes. The calls for papers for each issue are posted in the 'News' section of our website.

This journal offers free access to its content: making cultural and scientific production freely available is democratizing knowledge.
