Abstract

This article proposes a reading of the Colombia´s Pacific, from the elements that make up the concept of cultural landscape, as it is making a criticism to the concept of Region usually used, which does not respond to the cultural and symbolic dynamics that are woven there. Since the Pacific is restricted to a conception of natural region and it impoverishes their ecosystemic and cultural elements. Therefore, is proposed in this study to present examples that support the cultural landscape as a category of analysis, it is allowing the expansion of the study of relations and processes of transformation decisive in the intra-regional symbolic composition. Especially among black communities and tropical rainforest.
