Abstract

This article aimed to map the urban voids in the city of Orleans in the years 2002 and 2017 and to analyze the differences in this time space. The methodology used geoprocessing tools to structure the database and generate the thematic maps needed to produce spatial information that supported the discussion of results. 420.06 ha of urban voids were identified in 2002 and 269.01 ha in 2017. The results showed a decrease in the area of ​​urban voids in the city of Orleans, which may be associated with population growth and the transformation of the economic matrix of the city. County. Regarding the area of ​​voids measured by neighborhoods, it was observed that the neighborhoods with the least empty area are located in the central areas and those with the largest area in the peripheral areas, showing the discontinuity of the urban fabric.
