PUBLIC POLICIES FOR LIVING WITH THE SEMI-ARID IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF ERERÉ, CEARÁ, BRAZIL

The semiarid climate has provided severe episodes to the population that lives in it, thus requiring strategies for coexistence. In this context, this study analyzes government actions, at the federal, state and municipal levels, aimed at living with the semiarid region in the municipality of Ereré, in the Ceará state. Based on the bibliographic survey, to discuss the theoretical scope, and on the survey and document analysis, with the collection of secondary data, it is found that in Ereré several public policies were implemented, with actions promoting access to water, followed by actions that encourage agricultural activities. It is concluded that the policies, while qualifying the coexistence of the Northeastern outback people, with the conditions of the local nature, reverberate positively in the lives of beneficiaries, enhancing conditions for improving the quality of life of the inhabitants of the municipality of Ereré.
