GEOGRAPHIC EXPANSION OF BUSINESS-CAPITALIST AGRICULTURE AND TERRITORIAL CHANGES IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF CAIAPÔNIA, GOIÁS

The present study aims to demonstrate and analyze the transformations resulting from business-capitalist agriculture in the territory, especially from the analysis of land use and occupation in the municipality of Caiapônia, Goiás. In this regard, a bibliographic review and the survey and systematization of data from a secondary source of the 1995/1996, 2006 and 2017 Agricultural Census, Municipal Agricultural Research and Municipal Livestock Research from 1990 to 2018, both IBGE publications and also spatial data obtained through the analysis of satellite images made by the MapBiomas platform. The results point to a considerable expansion of grain crops (soy and corn) in the municipality of Caiapônia in the last decades, with the maintenance of the pasture area where cattle raising is practiced. In addition, there was a reduction in the areas of the forest and savannah formation classes, besides the increase in the area of the rural formation classes, urban infrastructure (city headquarters) and planted forest, denoting the deforestation of the Cerrado and the expansion of business agriculture - capitalist.
