DIMENSIONS OF GLOBAL WATER SECURITY IN SEMIARID AREAS, A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

Abstract

Droughts and desertification processes are problems that make it difficult to guarantee global water security for rural communities in Brazil and around the world. Based on this, we aimed to identify which types of water technologies enable access to and prospecting for water in semiarid regions. To this end, the bibliometric method was used to understand the insertion of global water security in the last decade through research in the Scielo, Scopus and Web of Science databases. It was found that in the context of local water security, studies on rural communities are scarce; however, in these regions, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are used to determine the allocation of water technologies to places with water scarcity problems. We conclude that studies on water security are promising when using different types of technologies for access to water in semiarid regions, such as cisterns and wells.

She works professionally as a technical assistant in the Technical Consulting sector at the company Topocart Topography, Engineering and Aerial Surveys (2021 - current).

He is currently a professor at the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the Federal University of Uberlândia, professor of the Postgraduate Program in Agriculture and Geospatial Information and the Postgraduate Program in Geography, dedicating himself to studies directed at the physical aspects of Geodesy. He is the editor-in-chief of the Brazilian Journal of Cartography, as well as President of the Working Group GTIII: Vertical Datum of SIRGAS and President of Subcommittee 2.4b "Gravity and Geoid" of the International Association of Geodesy. She has been a fellow of the International Association of Geodesy since 2023.

    Professor at the Institute of Geography, Geosciences and Public Health (IGESC) of the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU). PhD (2017) in Geodetic Sciences from the Federal University of Paraná. He was Deputy Director of the Institute of Geography, Geosciences and Public Health (UFU), management 2021-2023. He is a permanent professor in the Postgraduate Program in Geography (UFU) and in the Postgraduate Program in Environmental Quality (UFU). He is Substitute Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program in Geography at IGESC (UFU), management 2024-2026. He coordinates the research group in Geoinformation, Territory and Conservation - GISTeC (UFU). He was Editor-in-Chief of the Brazilian Journal of Cartography (2018-2022). He is Associate Editor of the Bulletin of Geodetic Sciences and the Brazilian Journal of Cartography. She conducts research on the following topics: Collaborative Mapping, Spatial Perception and Cognition, Emotional Cartography and Cities, Nature Conservation, Agriculture and Sustainability, Fires and Burnings.
