Abstract

This study aims to understand the High West Potiguar as an internal border region, located in Rio Grande do Norte (RN), between the states of Paraiba (PB) and Ceará (CE), scaled by the urban-regional dynamics and led by municipality of Pau dos Ferros/RN as polarizing center. Therefore, it is a theoretical course that involves the territory concepts, borders and urban-regional dynamics, and a methodological path in which articulates these concepts to residential data analysis of undergraduate students and pendular movements of people that study and work in Pau dos Ferros. It was found that the High West Potiguar is characterized as an internal region border to be located on state boundaries whose development was marked by this condition, far from ecumene, and contain specific urban-regional dynamics, the compass center polarizer that converges to today's social and economic dynamics.
