MAPPING AND ANALYSIS OF SURFACE GEOCOVER IN THE CHAPADÃO DO DIAMANTE – MG - BRAZIL

Abstract

The mapping of the surface geocovers and their association with lithological, structural and topographic aspects is the main objective of this research, carried out in Chapadão do Diamante (Chd), the extreme eastern portion of Serra da Canastra. With this purpose, aerogamaespectrometric data obtained from sub-orbital flights, high-resolution Google ™ images and fieldwork with superficial material collection was used to create a Surface Geocover Map. The result show a correlation between these variables, either in their cartographic aspect, or through quantitative data. The structural aspects obtained through the delineation of linear features observable in shaded relief images, were analyzed from the overlapping to the Map of Surface Geocover and from a qualitative point of view indicated a distribution throughout the ChD area, demonstrating the main material differentiation in relation to the areas with the highest intensity of rocky outcrops and those with flat tops and hill slopes. In addition, the spatial and descriptive statistics analysis was preponderant for a better understanding of the distribution of the surface geocover data in relation to the aspects of the mapped relief units and the specific topographic aspects, such as slope and curvature of the relief.

    Doutora em Geografia (2018) pelo Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geografia da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia. Mestra em Geografia (2013) pela mesma Instituição (UFU). Especialista em Geomática (2011) com ênfase em Geoprocessamento pela Faculdade Católica de Uberlândia. Graduada em Geografia (Licenciatura - 2010 e Bacharelado - 2011) pela Universidade Federal de Uberlândia. É colaboradora do Laboratório de Geomorfologia e Erosão dos Solos do Instituto de Geografia - UFU. Possui experiência em Geomorfologia, Geoprocessamento e Geografia Física Geral; desenvolve trabalhos, principalmente, nas áreas de Cartografia Geomorfológica e Geocartografia, Análise da Paisagem e Evolução do Relevo.

Editor Chefe da Revista Sociedade & Natureza entre os anos de 2008 a 2011. Atualmente é membro do conselho editorial das revistas GEOUSP, Revista do Departamento de Geografia (USP), Brazilian Geographical Studies. Foi membro do EOLSS International Editorial Council da UNESCO, Foi do Conselho Editorial da Editora da UFU entre 2008 e 2011. É revisor da Revista Brasileira de Geomorfologia , Revista Caminhos da Geografia (UFU. Online) , Environmental Earth Sciences (SPRINGER). Foi secretario da Commission On Land Degradation And Desertification da Associação Internacional de Geografia entre 2010 e 2012. Atualmente é Professor Titular junto ao Instituto de Geografia da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia atuando na graduação dos cursos de licenciatura e bacharelado, bem como membro do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geografia da UFU (Nota 5). Tem experiência na área de Geociências, com ênfase em Geomorfologia, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: geomorfologia, cartografia geomorfológica, erosão do solo, análise ambiental integrada e mapeamento geomorfológico. Pesquisador 1C do CNPq desde o ano de 2008.
