MIMESIS AND HUMAN GEOGRAPHY IN PAUL VIDAL DE LA BLACHE’S METHOD

Abstract

Based on the concept of mimesis elaborated by the Brazilian literature theorist Luiz Costa Lima Brazilian scholar, this article aims to analyse the Vidalian human geography. Its particular use of description and its capacity of metamorphosing environmental elements into geographical categories able to revealing the French national identity under the long-run time show how complex and relevant its method is.

    doutorado (2005-2008) em Geografia pela Universidade Federal Fluminense e pós-doutorado (2011-2012) em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais. Fez um ano de doutorado-sanduíche pela Université Paris IV-Sorbonne (2007-2008) sob a orientação de Paul Claval. Neste período, estudou na Escola de Altos Estudos em Ciências Sociais (EHESS) e na Escola Normal Superior (ENS). Lecionou no curso de Licenciatura Plena em Geografia da UERJ-FFP (2004); coordenou e foi Professor Assistente do curso de Geografia da Fundação Educacional da Região dos Lagos (2005-2006); organizou e lecionou no curso de Pós-Graduação Lato Sensu em História Contemporânea da Universidade Veiga de Almeida (2008), além de ter sido Professor Assistente desta instituição nos cursos de Serviço Social, Turismo e História (2002-2008). Professor Adjunto de Geografia na Universidade Federal Fluminense (Campos dos Goytacazes) de 2009 a 2011. Co-fundador e co-líder do Núcleo de Pesquisas Espaço e Economia (NUPEE) em 2009. Idealizador e coordenador do Laboratório Política, Epistemologia e História da Geografia (LAPEHGE) em 2012. Um dos editores e fundadores da ";Espaço & Economia. Revista Brasileira de Geografia Econômica"; (http://espacoeconomia.revues.org/) e da ";Continentes. Revista de Geografia do Departamento de Geociências da UFRRJ"; (http://r1.ufrrj.br/revistaconti/index.php/continentes). Um dos organizadores do livro ";Vidal, Vidais. Textos de Geografia Humana, Regional e Política"; (Editora Bertrand Brasil, 2012). Trabalha com tradução de artigos de geógrafos de língua francesa desde 2006. Agraciado com o Prêmio Capes de Tese (edição 2009) na área de Geografia por ";Espaço, Tempo e Epistemologia no Século XX: a Geografia na Obra de Fernand Braude.
