Abstract

Method's reflection is revisited owing to the problematic horizon of coloniality that traces scientific Geography, which questions the validity of its tradition in view of the need to re-discuss its bases. The paper resorts to the Knowledge-Existence dialectic, as placed in its práxis by the thought of Jean-Paul Sartre, as a strategy to problematize the epistemological and ontological issues that are involved in the challenges of contemporary
Geography.

Author Biography

  • Eduardo Marandola Junior, State University of Campinas, Campinas (SP), Brazil

    PhD in Geography from the Institute of Geosciences of the State University of Campinas (2008), carrying out Free Teaching in the Area of the General Common Basic Nucleus (Society and Environment) (2016). He is currently Associate Professor II (MS 5.2) at the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FCA) at Unicamp (Limeira campus), where he coordinates the Laboratory of Geography of Risks and Resilience (LAGERR), at the Center for Applied Human and Social Sciences (CHS) and acts as Permanent Professor of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Applied Human and Social Sciences (ICHSA). He is also a professor at the Graduate Program in Geography at the Institute of Geosciences (IG) at Unicamp. He is editor of the electronic magazine Geograficidade, of the Cultural Humanist Geography Research Group (GHUM / UFF / CNPq), of which he is one of the coordinators. He coordinates the Research Group Nominate Phenomenology and Geography (FCA / Unicamp) and is deputy leader of the Research Group Mixed Methods and Multilevel Analysis (FCA / Unicamp). He has been working mainly with phenomenological perspectives, discussing ontology, epistemology and literature, in search of theoretical-methodological approaches of contemporary interdisciplinarity. He is also interested in the interface of urban, environmental and population studies, in particular urban mobility, risks and vulnerability and experience in the processes of environmental change.
