SERVICIOS ECOSISTÉMICOS DE REGULACIÓN EN UNA CUENCA DEL SEMIÁRIDO DE BRASIL

Resumen

Las presiones humanas sobre los ecosistemas por el uso y supresión de la cubierta vegetal provocan acciones negativas sobre la biodiversidad, impactando la naturaleza y los servicios ecosistémicos que la misma brinda. El enfoque de esta investigación es evaluar la capacidad de brindar Servicios Ecosistémicos en la Cuenca del Río Seridó (RN / PB). Se aplicaron técnicas de modelado de USLE, además de índices de carbono orgánico y de vegetación. Los resultados mostraron que los valores más altos de NDVI se encuentran en áreas de mayor elevación y pendiente, y los valores más bajos se encuentran en áreas planas. Se identificaron seis clases de uso del suelo, a saber: Cuerpos de agua, área urbana, Pastizales y rocas expuestas, Caatinga Subarbustiva, Subarbórea y Arbórea. Como resultado, las áreas de mayor relevancia para la prestación de servicios de almacenamiento de carbono orgánico se encuentran en las áreas más altas, con las áreas con mayor control de erosión ubicadas en áreas escarpadas.

    He is currently a PhD student in Geography at the Graduate Program in Geography at the State University of Ceará - UECE. It is linked to the Geoprocessing and Applied Studies Laboratory (LABGEO / UECE). Degree in Geography from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte - UFRN. He develops studies in the field of phytoecology of tropical ecosystems in conservation units in the Brazilian semiarid region, with an approach from landscape ecology, landscape metrics and landscape analysis in GIS.

    Collaborating Professor at the Higher Education Center of Seridó CERES/Campus de Caicó - UFRN. PhD student in Geography at the Federal University of Ceará - UFC. Member of the Semiarid Ecology Laboratory - LABESA as well as the Research Group on Geoecology and Tropical Biogeography - TRÓPIKOS., where he develops research in the areas of Geoecology and Biogeography, with published works on the following topics: Remote Sensing and Geoprocessing applied to analysis and modeling of environmental systems, environmental monitoring, Caatinga phytogeography.

    Doctor in Ecology, he was born in Jardim do Seridó-RN. He works as Adjunct Professor IV of the Department of Geography at the Higher Education Center of Seridó / UFRN, teaching the disciplines of Ecology, Biogeography, Natural Resources and Environmental Planning in undergraduate courses in Geography. He runs the Lab. & Research Group on Biogeography of Tropical Ecosystems (TRÓPIKOS), developing research in the areas of characterization of coastal ecosystems, classification and mapping of ecosystem services, biogeography of wetlands, phytogeography of tropical ecosystems, environmental monitoring and teaching of physical geography/biogeography. He also works as a professor in the Graduate Programs in Geography and in Development and Environment. Abroad, he is a research fellow at the Center for Environmental and Marine Studies-CESAM / University of Aveiro, Portugal and a member of the International Society for Salt Lake Research, where he served on the Board of Directors in the 2012-2014 term. In 2010, he participated in the scientific visit to the University of Sfax / Tunisia and the Aquaculture Institute of Torre de La Sal? IATS/Spain. Between 2010 and 2011, he participated as a researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center of Marine and Environmental Research-CIIMAR / University of Porto, Portugal. In Brazil, he is a founding member of the Brazilian Association of Biogeography (ABBIOGEO), where he acts as 1st Secretary in the 2018-2022 term, as well as 2nd Treasurer of the Brazilian Association of Physical Geography (ABGeoFísica). He coordinated the project "Geoenvironmental characterization and ecosystem services provided by saline and hypersaline wetlands of the semi-arid coast of Brazil (RN / CE)" (Edital Universal-MCTI / CNPQ / Universal Proc.447227 / 2014-9). Between 2018 and 2019, he was a Junior Postdoctoral Fellow/CNPq in the Graduate Program in Geography at UFPB, coordinating the project "Assessment and mapping of ecosystem services between Conservation Units of sustainable use and full protection in Seridó (RN) "
