Abstract

O Céu de Suely (2006) helped to consolidate Karim Aïnouz's name in national cinema. Derived from the Ana Paula, a jovem que se rifou para ir morar em São Paulo (1991)  by Abraão Batista, the work marks the second meeting between the authors - the first adaptation took shape in the short film Rifa-me (2000). In this second meeting, the director added new layers and transposed to the cinema the cultural particularities that are intrinsically connected to the history and to the genre of the cordel itself. Based on the poetics of the written text, cinematographic aesthetics added to the script that connects and expands the concept of home proposed by Bachelard and the methodological path proposed by Marcel based on the concept of Intercultural Adaptation, we seek from the notions of cinema of flow, understand how this audiovisual production was possible to emanate the sensations present in the cordel through the process of translation between the text and the movement-image.
