            Abstract

This study aimed at understanding the phenomenon experienced by hospital nurses tutoring students during their nursing senior year. We used the phenomenological methodology and the subjects were fifteen nurses from the University Hospital Professor Alberto Antunes, in Maceió, Alagoas. The interviews were conducted in August and September 2010, with the following guiding question: How are you experiencing the role of hospital nurse for graduating nursing students at University Hospital Professor Alberto Antunes? Five categories were revealed: Satisfaction received by undergraduates, support to continuing education for the nurses; Work Overload, Support from the academy to the nurses and Student’s characteristics X floor experience outcomes. With the unveiling of the phenomenon, it was possible to obtain grants to work with academies on building a theoretical support for the possible restructuration of the curricular planning required in the hospital.
