Contraceptive methods: educational strategy with adolescents

          Abstract

          This research aimed at describing educational health strategies with adolescents approaching contraceptive methods with 20 adolescents aged 12 to 15 years, of the 7th grade, of a public school in Fortaleza, in November 2007. The participative methodology of the experience report kind described was used during the educational practices, lasting on average 150 minutes. They were divided into four subgroups and interacted in turns. The methods used were: woman’s fertile period, vasectomy, Tubal ligation, intra-uterine device (IUD), diaphragm, masculine and feminine condoms and oral contraceptive. It was explained through materials like posters, bladders and illustrations with subsequent interrogations to the groups. Knowledge defi cit was verifi ed on anatomy and physiology, giving rise to doubts concerning some methods. The masculine condom was the most popular method. The feminine, DIU and the diaphragm were the methods with fewer explanations. The participation of the nurse facilitates the understanding of new knowledge in the school for the teenager.
