Abstract

John Scottus Eriugena translated the dionisyan corpus into latin and thanks that he was highly influenced by the thought of this mysterious eastern author. Both philosophers establish that God is ineffable and unknowable, but they suggest some sorts of approaching to divinity using several forms of theology. Though Dionisus proposes various and complex ways, Eriugena seems to follow him by adopting the affirmative and negative theology, but with some modifications. This article pretends to analyze some texts of the Irish philosopher and his source over those themes.
