Abstract

In this paper, we intend to discuss the subject of “moral contractualism” in Kant. It is linked to the problem of political contractualism, but it can be sustained that the “moral pact” is antecedent to that of the “political pact”; as a matter of fact, the first is presupposed in the latter. The subject has its roots in the classical Political and Moral Philosophy. In this paper, however, we will limit ourselves to the period of the History of Modern Philosophy. Between the most immediate sources, we can refer to Jean-Jacques Rousseau, an author in which the intertwining between moral and politics is more present than ever.
