Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the nature of the eudemonology in the thought of Arthur Schopenhauer front the so-called metaphysical pessimism of the philosopher. We start from the “deviation of metaphysics” that the thinker prepares to expound his theory of happiness, and, from this, we investigate two main issues: (a) the standpoint of eudemonology of Schopenhauer’s philosophy that it is considered by the author as under to the ethical-metaphysical standpoint, but it was created with and grows parallel to the latter; and (b) the eudemonology, that it is defined as negative, euphemistic and in terms of life wisdom, a condition that is considered as supplementary to metaphysical`s theses.
