Pierre Bayle and Giulio Cesare Vanini: reflections on virtuous atheism
Keywords:
Bayle. Vanini. Atheism.Abstract
In his Pensées diverses sur la comète, Bayle ranked Giulio Cesare Vanini as an authentic “martyr” of virtuous atheism, because of its tough stance on the scaffold in no time hesitating about their philosophical beliefs. However, even with problematic martyr image erected by Bayle about Vanini, nor why both authors no longer have certain aspects in common, it is evident the largest, namely debug the atheism of unfounded opinions of his detractors.Downloads
