Introduction to the notions of essence, necessity and predication in Aristotle
Keywords:
Aristotle. Essence. Necessity. Predication. Language.Abstract
This paper is a brief exploration of the relation established in Gama IV between the notions of essence and necessity leading up to the theory of predication presented the same. Once we understand that the notion of language used by Aristotle, structured by a basic distinction between types of predicates and predications which implicates the validity of the principle of non-contradiction, is bound to his ontology then we can understand the ontological basis for the his effective distinction between what is essential and necessary and what is merely coincidental in describing the world of things.References
