Abstract

I investigate, in this paper, the relationship between foundation, power and violence. To do so, I review the interpretation that Arendt makes of Machiavelli. When we analyze it and compare it with a republican interpretation of the thought of the Florentine secretary, we believe we can shed some light on the notions studied, as well as in a possible understanding of Arendt as a Republican author.
