Abstract

This study aimed to describe the landings of fish unloaded at the Fiscal Office of Bragança, Pará State, during the year 2008. From a total of 47 species identified in unloaded and Fiscal Office, ten species were most significant in relation to the volume landed, which amounted to 1,377 tons. Four different fishing gears were identified, among which gill nets (65%), stand out as the most commonly used. By analyzing the production discharged in Fiscal Office on the basis of rainfall was observed that the production during the rainy season was statistically significant (P <0.05) compared to the dry period. The fish sold in the Fiscal Office in addition to supplying the local council, was also deployed to surrounding cities and other states of Brazil. During the study period the fish trade was found not to be restricted only to the seller and buyer, but there are many actors who benefit from the activity carried out in fishing communities around f the Fiscal Office.
