Abstract

The coastal dune fields of central Chile result of the interactions between glacioeustatic sea level changes, climatic changes and the tectonic uplift of the coast during the Quaternary. The current evolution is due to natural morphodynamics linked to wind, vegetation and the occupation and installation of human activities and infrastructure. The degradation of two dune fields in central Chile is evident due to the extension of invasive plant species and the installation of productive tree species. Alterations of the wind dynamics are appreciated and modification of the existing morphologies is expected.
