Abstract

The African pompano,  Alectis ciliaris (Bloch, 1788) (Actinopterygii: Carangidae), is reported for the first time  to Todos os Santos Bay (Bahia State, northeastern Brazil), an ecosystem with estuarine characteristics, on the basis of the  occurrence of one specimen measuring 172.0 mm in standard length.
