In this contribution the author provides personal information on historical events about the performance by the rearadmiral Augusto Roque Dias Fernandes in defence of Brazil’s national concerns, as related to the tuna resources exploitation by Japanese fleets and the “lobster war” carried out against vessels of the French navy, in Northeast Brazil
