Social Assistance Policy Assessment: theoretical-conceptual trends and approaches

Abstract

The social assistance policy in Brazil since its approval by the Federal Constitution in 1988, has gone through advances and setbacks that oscillated according to the national political context. The evaluations based on the theoretical-conceptual framework of public policies that followed its implementation, were guidelines for analyzing how studies and productions on the aforementioned policy have been projected in the academic sphere. Thus, from 2017 to 2019, we conducted the research entitled “Assessments of social assistance policy in Brazil: an analytical and bibliometric study based on academic approaches/Productions”, in an attempt to comprehensively map all the production that took place in academia about assessments carried out on social assistance policy since 2004. Based on data obtained from revision and bibliographical research, our objective here is to analyze the trends and theoretical- conceptual approaches in academic production on the evaluation of social assistance policy in Brazil.
