Abstract

The following article has as main objective to debate, in the psychological area, issues related to the underdevelopment reality, using as example the Northeast Area of Brazil. From the works of studious such as Josué de Castro, Paulo Freire, and Martín-Baró among others aspects are raised from the social-economic formation and the current northeastern context, like its inclusion in the globalized international economy. The relations among political regime, ideology and character are examined; as well as the concepts of: fatalism, submission and resignation ideology, oppressed character, personal value, personal power and consciousness. Under the perspective of Social Psychology, the article analyses questions, on the macro level as well as micro social, one trying to articulate knowledge to delineate psychosocial characteristics of the excluded people, under the underdevelopment conditions. It still questions Commonwealth-Society relationship in its present time, as well as it points out proposals of intervention.
