Cognitive deficit as a risk factor to the daily activities limitation in institutionalized aged

This study of descriptive exploratory character with transversal delineation and quantitative boarding tried to evaluate the functional capacity, the mental state of institutionalized aged and to identify the association between cognitive deficit and functional incapacity in institutionalized aged. 50% of the aged were from the female sex, 66.6% are illiterate, 23.3% literate, and 1.6% have the second complete degree. From the 80 evaluated aged 28.3% are independent related to the functional capacity and 71.6% present some commitment of the functional capacity. In relation to the mental state of the 60 aged evaluated 63.3% present the cognitive functions preserved and 36.7% present cognitive alteration not suggestive of cognitive deficit.Downloads
