Abstract

The objective of this article is to show the importance of conceptual domain knowledge school mapping in the Geography teacher-training curriculum, training future teachers to teach their students the reading of cartographic representations. Such discussion is focused on the following issue: what is the importance of the conceptual domain of cartography in the training of Geography teachers? The importance of this article is justified by the fact that, during the process of Geography teacher training in most of the higher education institutions, there isn ́t even one debate on the importance of understanding cartography as a language during the schooling process of students from elementary education. Two points are used as methodological procedure: bibliographic basis, besides discussions in classroom on teacher training classes.
