Abstract

This study sought to analyze the social representations of ‘environmental culture’ in a university community. Comprehensive research was carried out with the support of Representational Cartography, using the Social Representation Theory approach and the lexical analysis technique with the help of Iramuteq software. Empirical evidence was obtained that reinforces the relevance of considering a diversity of perspectives that range from person-environment relations to the socioeconomic and behavioral implications of this interaction. The results suggest the need for a holistic and integrated approach to promoting environmental culture in universities through multidisciplinary collaboration and a collective commitment to sustainability. This research contributes to a better understanding of environmental culture and the importance of sustainability.
