This article aims to assess the process of geoterritorialization in the Circuito das Grutas, in Minas Gerais, Brazil, based on the theoretical framework of Hobléa et al. (2021) and its nine analytical criteria: documentation, inventory, protection, management, geotouristification, geoeducation, social appropriation, specification, and territorial distinction. The research adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach grounded in document analysis and indirect observation of territorial practices. The results reveal an uneven and selective process, with actions concentrated around three main caves and a lack of regional coordination. Despite encompassing karst landscapes of high geomorphological relevance—characterised by unique surface and subsurface landforms—and benefiting from accumulated scientific recognition and a consolidated institutional base, the Circuit still lacks integrated strategies for promoting and managing its geoheritage. The study suggests that methodologies inspired by the Australian GeoRegions model may offer a viable alternative for consolidating a shared territorial project that values the karst landscape as a geocultural and identity-based resource.
