MODELIZACIÓN DE LA SUSCEPTIBILIDAD A LAS INUNDACIONES EN ZONAS DE ESTUDIO CON ESCASEZ DE DATOS HIDROLÓGICOS

Resumen

La información hidrológica es esencial para estimar la magnitud de las inundaciones y contribuir así a reducir las pérdidas y los daños. Sin embargo, cuando estos datos son escasos, la modelización de inundaciones y la evaluación de riesgos se convierten en un reto. En el oeste de Rio Grande do Sul, utilizamos la cuenca del río Santa Maria para estimar el caudal del río para diferentes tiempos de retorno, basándonos en la distribución estadística de los datos de precipitación y caudal del río, y para simular escenarios de inundación utilizando un modelo hidrológico IBER 2D. Los resultados mostraron una alta correlación entre los caudales calculados a partir de la precipitación y los datos fluviométricos, utilizando la
distribución GEV y GumbelMax. Las áreas susceptibles de inundación son consistentes con eventos de inundación pasados, validados con trabajo de campo e imágenes Sentinel. Los caudales fluviales estimados a partir de los datos pluviométricos pueden favorecer los estudios hidrológicos en ausencia de datos fluviométricos.

    Professor in the Department of Geography at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto. PhD in Physical Geography (2010) from the University of Porto and Post-Doctorate (2010-2016) at the University of Lisbon. Integrated researcher at the Centre for Studies in Geography and Spatial Planning of the University of Porto (G1 Nature and environmental dynamics) and collaborating researcher at the Centre for Geographical Studies of the University of Lisbon (Research Group in Environmental Risk Assessment and Management - RISKam). Author and co-author of more than 35 articles indexed in the Scopus database. Principal researcher of the research project FORLAND - Hydro-geomorphological risks in Portugal: forcing factors and applications to spatial planning, funded by FCT. He is currently an  Professor at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Porto and a Researcher at the Riskam group of the Centre for Geographical Studies of the Institute of Geography and Spatial Planning. He has experience in Geography, with emphasis on Physical Geography, and his main areas of activity/research are: Natural Hazards and Dynamics. His specific topics are related to Slope Movements, Natural Hazard Mapping; Physical Geography, Spatial Planning and Environmental Studies; Geographic Information Systems and spatial modelling in Hazards and Civil Protection.

    PhD in Geosciences from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1999) and Post-Doctorate at the University of Porto, Portugal and the University of Maine, Le Mans/France. He is currently a professor/collaborating researcher in the postgraduate program in geography at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul and a full professor at the Federal University of Santa Maria, in the geography course and the postgraduate program in geography and geosciences. He coordinates the CNPq LAGEOLAM Research Group organized in 1995. He has experience in the area of ​​Geosciences, with an emphasis on geomorphological, geoenvironmental and natural disaster studies.

    PhD in Geography from the Federal University of Paraná (2011). Post-Doctorate in Geography from Le Mans Université, France (2021) through the PrInt - Institutional Internationalization Program. He is currently a full professor in the Department of Geosciences, in the Postgraduate Program in Geography at the Federal University of Santa Maria. He has experience in the area of ​​Geosciences, with an emphasis on Geotechnologies, working mainly on the following topics: Hydrographic Basin, Sandblasting, Geomorphology, Land Use and Occupation, Geoenvironmental Characterization and Risk Areas.
