Abstract

Art has always been anchored in the task to create idealities. Traditional aesthetics expressed this fundamental requirement, having Hegel as its highest moment. Contemporary art has developed an effort to deconstruct such a perspective, proposing a return to daily life. However, such an effort still remained under the command of purely spiritual principles of art considered in itself. Our hypothesis is that this leads art to self-destruction so that it becomes necessary for art to return to be engaged with the real world (natural and social), making use of all our senses, and avoiding the old precepts of disinterestedness, contemplation and hierarchical teleology. Art must die in order for life to emerge, as a new kind of pleasure that does not spring from “beauty”, but from the objects themselves.
