Abstract

This paper was designed to perform the identification of the species Escherichia coli and serological typing of strains enteropathogenic in samples of water from the river and sururu leak-barrels. The technique used was the multiple tube fermentation in the most probable number. For the biochemical identification of bacteria was used culture medium Chromocult Agar (Merck) and serotyping was performed by the technique of in slide agglutination with antisera Probac. A total of 13 samples obtained was unable to isolate and identify 7 thermotolerant strains of bacteria, Escherichia coli (43.75%). The serotyping of strains of E. coli showed six serotypes enteropatogênicos: O114 (EPEC) (04), and O124 (EIEC) (03).
